About Naducaa

Headscarves are an ancient tradition, worn in so many cultures across the world. This is our version.

Drawing on local and global inspirations, Naducaa head-wraps are as diverse as our customers with a style and colour combination for any occasion. Once you find your perfect Naducaa wrap, you can trust that your knot, twist or bow will not unravel. They arrive ready to wear, slide on as easily as a crown and fit as comfortably as a beanie.

Most importantly, we hope you feel the love and care that has gone into each design and that it helps you feel the power of self-expression.

About the brand

Naducaa is an Adelaide based ‘ready-to-wear’ headwear label, made for the everyday woman. The pre-wrapped turbans are 100% handmade, with unique designs and fabrics sourced from the travels of Head Designer Nadia.

With a variety of fabrics, colours, and pre-done ties, these designs take the stress out of tying your own knot, and you’ll be sure to find a piece for every occasion.

The first physical Naducaa store was a pop up on Rundle Street during The Adelaide Fringe Festival. A street that had already played such a vital role in my journey with fashion. I had worked there for over a decade in several boutiques and styled hundreds if not thousands of people on that very street. It’s also a hub for high fashion, arts and local creators. It was the most natural place to have debuted my creations. In collaboration with my sister Reema Elassad, who was selling her unique handcrafted jewellery, we shared this pop up for 6 weeks.

Still, I remember how afraid I was to open this store for the first time. But here, I learned resilience. I learned that all things created with good intentions develop a soul of their own. Just like people, what we create will be loved by some and hated by others, but it is not a reflection on the creation itself. Now, criticism does not phase me.
Reema and I crossed the Tasman and set up shop at the renowned  WomAD festival in NZ while we were still buzzing from Adelaide’s festive season.

Aeora in Autumn is a dream and with a positivity that is contagious. This was an opportunity to push myself to my limits. Away from my comfort zone of Rundle street, it was a new country where I didn’t know anyone. I learned the power of vision. As long as you stay true to your vision, you can recreate it anywhere you go.

When I came back to Adelaide, I set up in another hub for Adelaide’s high end fashion. This brought many opportunities for Naducaa, including working with stylists in the area and even some media attention.

It was here that The Sunday Mail wrote a feature on Naducca designs! It was here that I hosted the first VIP night, a chance to thank all of the people that had helped to make Naducca a success. The event was filled with laughter, dancing and creative expression, the very elements that built Naducca.

Naducaa’s last pop up for 2019 was in Adelaide’s Regent Arcade. For two months we were in a historical building amongst artists, artisans and local makers. Being in the centre of the city brought tourists and people from all walks of life.

As a designer, it is such a privilege to speak to my customers directly, support them, and help them find the best wrap for them. So much thought goes into each wrap, they help portray personalities. I get to know my customers, hear their stories and share some of my own. The time in Regent Arcade was just long enough to feel like Naducca had found a home. But like all pop ups, the time had to end just in time for the next adventure.

2019 was the year tha Naducca began to crawl, walk, and run. The next steps in this new year, in the new decade, look even brighter. There is always more to absorb, more to inspired by and more to share. I’ve moved once again, this time to Perth. There are more exciting plans to come. But for now, I’m taking it back to where it all started. Rundle street, just in time for Adelaide’s Fringe!
